Good morning! Enjoy a Fleet Air Arm (I think the owner was using an airworthy Fairey Firefly as a b asis )inspired MGB GT. Not my picture but this thing is local, what doesn’t show is this thing is covered in rivets.

That’s cool.

Total disgust (?) here:

It may be stating the obvious
that this is an expensive accident. A Lincoln-Zephyr, a nearly new White truck, and doubtless some of the goods inside... in 1942.

Given the safety standards of the day, everyone in both vehicles probably died.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe one vehicle was parked, and the other was a runaway?

Maybe. My guess is truck driver took a turn too fast
and rolled it over on top of a parked car.

When new cars were non existent and pretty much everything else was in tight supply.

Yeeeep.

I’m just guessing no one in the Lincoln survived.

Scenes from my Monday:
Being organ tuners for Rockefeller Chapel, University of Chicago gets you circular drive parking privileges.
And a happy dog in a Corvair

Nice! Definitely looks like ragtop weather.

It was. Actually I was driving from University of Chicago right up the lake to Northwestern when I saw them . Had the windows and roof open all the way. It was a nice day for the Jaguar.
Also put my new brakes to work on the miserable traffic infested trip from my house to UofC. Would have taken the Triumph if I was only going to N orthwestern.

Northwestern was one of my options for grad school. I auditioned and got accepted, but it was going to be beaucoup bucks. It’s also only a one-year program. Ended up going to Rice because scholarship.

No, I think this was at fairly low relative speed, just the White tipping over from taking the turn much too fast or something like
. The windshield on the White isn’t even shattered. The front fender and door post on the Lincoln-Zephyr have been mauled, no question, but I don’t think there’s any passenger compartment intrusion to speak of, which makes the deciding factor on fatality how fast the Lincoln was going vs. how fast it stopped (rattling around in a box/lack of seatbelt
injuries).

It has that reputation (expensive). But two nice organs in the chapel we maintain. UofC has one of the very greatest organs in the entire Midwest.

It would have been fun, but it also would have been a cutthroat program with lots of egos. I’m glad I ended up where I did.
